Hi, my name is Deborah Dehaerne and I'm a Belgian illustrator based in Erpe-Mere. Ever since I can remember, I've been drawing, creating and dreaming. Now I found a way to combine those three through illustrating and I'm loving every minute of it!

I'm a self-thought illustrator, but in june 2023, I'm graduating in the Art of Painting on the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Aalst. During the hard lockdown in 2020 I started taking a lot of digital classes and workshops in drawing and illustrating. Thats where the dream was born. I hope to be a published illustrator some day…

Everywhere I go, I take my sketchbooks and art supplies. I take every opportunaty to draw, where ever and whenever I can! From observation of from fantasy. I get my inspiration from my daily life or by wandering in the world, in musea, in nature, … I observe the world with my eyes and my heart and my mind thinks in images.

I love to create pictures with lots of emotions, happy or sad, big or small, so I can move people with my drawings. I don't shy difficult subjects, such as mental health. If I can give somebody some recognition or help them understand themselves or somebody else through my drawings, that would really make me happy! I like to add a touch of humour where I can. I love to draw goofy or wit characters, little people and animals. Furry, critters or cold-blooded, stuffed or alive, I truly love 'em all! I tend to draw "cute", but I'm not too shy to try new things, both in style and in materials. Most of the time, I draw and paint by hand, though I also enjoy drawing and colouring digitally. As you can see in my portfolio, I can combine both techniques as well.

I'm available for both individual and business commissions, as well as children book illustrations. If you have any questions or ideas about illustration, art commissions or just want to say hi, you can send me an email on my contact page.

Thank you for reading!
